never a dual moment in our househould!!!

happy happy boys

overalls... too cute

monster jaden

The boys sure like to keep us going going going.... Wednesday night we had a scary experience and Jaden has first ride in the ambulance : [ I was feeding him dinner around 5:30 and towards the end he started sticking his tongue out funny and acted like it was swelling, then he started to take really fast short breaths and was having some trouble breathing. My mom is a dispatcher and I called her right away, she sent an ambulance seeing is how he was having difficulty breathing and that isn't something to wait on getting help with. The whole time he was wheezing and taking short breaths he had a smile on his face giggling with the paramedics and chewing on his oxygen. Silly boy, he had no idea how scared I was! Once we got to the hospital he started to break out on his back arms and face. The ordered him a breathing treatment, benadryl, and steroids. We spent 6 hours in the ER but everything went very well, by the time we left you would have never thought he just had an emergency. They checked for RSV and took a chest x ray to make sure everything was okay, it was... so we thought. The next morning I had to take him to his pediatrician for a follow up and about 30 minutes before we went I got a phone call from the radiologist that looked at his x-rays from the ER and said he had slight pneumonia and needed to get him on some antibiotics right away. I mentioned this to the pediatrician and he told me that Jaden didn't have pneumonia and to not give him the medicine (without even looking at the x-ray or report). He referred us to an Asthma and Allergy specialist and prescribed some Albuterol for his wheezing that was still going on. So Friday went to Boise Valley Asthma and Allergy and saw a wonderful doctor!! While he was listening to Jaden he was wheezing a lot and he asked if he had anything going on. I mentioned the slight pneumonia but how the pediatrician told me it was false and not to worry about it. He said that pneumonia isn't something to mess around with in preemies and he was going to ask for the x-rays and report and figure out exactly what was going on. Sure enough he did have pneumonia, agh the run around!!!! He prescribed him some antibiotics and also sent us to the hospital to get blood work done to test what Jaden is allergic to. He thinks that his breathing problems got bad from the allergic reaction from having pneumonia. For now we have to avoid all foods that were found in that baby food, carry and epipen, and always have benadryl close. We should get the results back in 7-10 days. Jaden is acting pretty well for having pneumonia. His breathing is great besides some occasional wheezing and he doesn't really have a cough unless he is sleeping. We just have to keep an eye on him and pray he gets over it with no problems.
Besides the boys always trying to scare us, WE ARE GREAT!!! Jaden is sitting up all by himself now and Jaxson is doing much better. He can sit up for seconds at a time and we give him a lot less support when he's sitting up. The are both scooting all over and Jaden is in to everything!!! He has found the presents under the tree and already opened one. Naughty. It is very exciting seeing them really interested in the presents though because we weren't expecting that yet. Jaxson is doing WONDERFUL on his eating. It is very true that with preemies it is all on their time. He had no interest in solids for the longest time and would always gag and spit it out. We have been dong mouth stretches with him and every time he saw Jaden eating he would smack his lips so we decided to introduce bananas again. He ate 1/2 a banana the first time and didn't gag once!! YAY. He is doing great with moving it to the back of his mouth and is eating everything we give him now... even rice cereal! It's amazing how he can go from not tolerating it at all to love eating his solids. WE ARE SO PROUD OF HIM!!!
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with both sides of our family and are really looking forward to Christmas!
Jaden got another Christmas present

Jaxson LOVES his jumperoo

UPDATE!!!

I've been having trouble uploading pictures on the blog lately so there is no pictures today. : [
Things have been going great with the boys and we enjoying them so much!!!
HALLOWEEN- This year the boys had a pretty low key halloween but looked so cute. They were peas in pods and did so good in their costumes. There was only a few times they got too hot and fussy. We made our rounds to the grandparents and great grandparents then just came home for the evening.
ZOO- My nieces birthday was on November 2nd and it was a beautiful day so we decided to take all the kids to the zoo. The boys didn't really know what was going on but they loved being outside and were mezmorized by all the leaves and colors. They were so good and smiles the whole time. It was a great first trip to the Zoo.
JAXSON- Jaxson is continuing to get physical therapy once a week and we just got a letter he is approved for occupational therapy as well. He will get seen by the occupational therapist once a week also for 6 months then at that time they will re evaluate him to see if he gets approved for longer. He is starting to not be so tense and is so close to rolling over from his back to tummy. He doesn't like his tummy time very much and always rools over to his back right away. He is scooting himself around very well and is reaching for toys much more. If they are placed beside him on the ground he can now reach across his body to get them. We are working on sitting up and keeping his legs straight for balance. He is a little wiggle worm and is not interested in sitting up. I think it tickles the back of his legs when we straighten them out cuz he giggles the whole time we are helping him sit up, it is pretty cute!! : ] We are still working on solids with Jaxson but he isn't liking the texture still. He seems to tolerate apples the best in very small amounts. We aren't forcing solids on him and only give them if he accepts it without gagging or spitting it out. Last Tuesday Jaxson got his hernia fixed and everything went great! He was scheduled to get his surgery at 9 but Dr.Curnow had a late night and had to push it back to 11 (he was late for the 11 appointment too and Jaxson didn't get back until 12:30). Jaxson did great while we waited in the pre-op for hours (we arrived at the hospital at 7am) . He hadn't had anything to eat since 3am and was a very patient baby for how starving he was. The surgery was suppose to take about an hour but it ended up being 3. He had a hernia on his right side and Curnow went in with a camera to check if he was likely to get one on the left side and he was. He fixed them both so he wouldn't get the left one pushed out at a later time and go through all this again. Jaxson had a little bit of trouble waking up after surgery and the nurse gave him some extra Tylenol Codine he wasn't suppose to get which made him VERY sleepy. He had to take a bottle before we could take him home but we couldn't get him to stay awake to eat. He was breathing fine so the nurse said if we felt comfortable taking home like this we could because it could be hours before the Tylenol wore off and he was really alert. After a long day in the hospital we decided to take him home. He slept until about 7pm and we were able to get 2oz down him before he fell right back to sleep. He woke up again around 10pm and took 2 more oz. And at 3:30am he was wide awake and ready to go. Not very fun for me after being exhausted from the day before but I got up with him and played for a little bit and back to sleep he went after about an hour. The next morning Jaxson was all smiles and in such a great mood! You would have never know he just had surgery. He has been doing really well since then and has his follow up appointment on Monday. He is such a strong baby and gets through everything like it's no big deal, we are so proud of how tough he is. : ]
JADEN- Jaden is doing great and getting closer and closer to crawling everyday... yikes : / When he is on his tummy he gets his whole chest and sometimes tummy lifted off the ground. He is rolling around like crazy and ocassionaly toppling over on brother (although Jaxson has learned to kick his legs in deffense when Jaden gets close). He has been doing great on eating and eats solids 3-4 times a day. Rice cereal for breakfast, apples or banannas for lunch, and sweet potatoes or carrots for dinner. He has got really interested in food and smacks his lips if we are eating infront of him. Last week for the BSU game my mom was holding him and eating chili and he kept licking his lips and opening his mouth everytime she took a bite. By the time my mom was done Jaden's shirt was soaking wet with slobber, funny boy... he loves his food!!!! We have been working on sitting up with him as well and he is doing really good. Just in the last couple days he has been able to sit up by himself for 30 seconds to a minute. He looks like such a big boy when he does this. He loves playing with his toys and throws them around now which is not good when he is next to Jaxson. Usually once a day he cries from hitting himself in the head with his toys. I tell him if he plays nice this wont happen but he doesn't seem to understand me for some reason : ]
BOTH: Overall the boys are doing great at making milestones and we are so proud of how far they have come. They are the happiest babies and are always smiling or giggling. Lately they think it's funny when they hear brother laugh so one will giggle then the other and it is the cutiest thing ever! Now that they can scoot and rool they bang up on each other often. Lots of fingers to the eyes, scratches, head bangs.... We try and put them on the ground far apart but they always seem to end up right on top of each other. Oh and one other thing they are doing is grabbing their toes. They think this is the coolest thing and even manage to suck on them at times. I will have to say toes are the best toy!!! : ]

time to baby proof the house!!! they're on the move....

Yes you read that right.... THE BOYS ARE ON THE MOVE. Mr. Jaden has officially learned how to roll over both ways and move himself wherever he would like, his favorite though is underneath the coffee table. The last couple weeks he learned how to scoot himself around but now that he has mastered rolling from his back to his stomach then stomach to back he is a little rolling baby all over the house!! Little Jaxson has got so good at throwing his legs up and scooting himself around (most the time trying to chase after brother). He is trying so hard to roll from his back to his stomach and will get it soon! He gets his legs thrown up and manage to get on his side but hasn't figured out to get his head and shoulders over. Once he gets as mobile as Jaden I'm going to be one busy momma chasing them around.
It is so exciting to see them reaching big milestones and doing so great! At the same time it makes me a little sad though. How does time go by so fast? What happened to the days of being able to snuggle them for hours on end without squirms, being able to change their diapers while they lay so calmly and not try and roll away, give them baths without them giving me one as well as they splash their arms and legs around, and being able to lay them down wherever they wanted and not have to worry about them rolling off. They are growing up so fast and it makes me grateful for everyday!!!
Jaden has still been doing great on eating and is eating more solids everyday. His favorite so far is sweet potatoes and gets so excited over them! If I don't keep them coming in his mouth fast enough he throws a little fit and grabs the spoon and sweet potatoes go everywhere. Mr. Attitude for sure when it comes to his food!!! He hasn't been too excited over his rice cereal lately but I think it's because he is enjoying the fruits and veggies much more, which is totally okay!
We are continuing to work with Jaxson on his feeds but he is taking his bottles great and that's what he needs right now to get all the nutrients he needs to grow so we aren't pushing the solids. He did however take a few bites of sweet potatoes the last couple nights without gagging!! YAY! He really enjoys the taste but his mouth is still very tight which doesn't allow him to move the food around very easily. It's kind of funny to watch him concentrate so hard on moving the food to the back of his mouth and swallow. He makes the funniest motions with his tongue and usually loses about half of what was on the spoon to his shirt. We are so happy he is at least letting sweet potatoes in his mouth without gagging and is enjoying the taste. We just need to keep working on oral therapy to loosen his mouth so it makes it easier for him to eat.
Each day the boys are babbling new sounds and really figuring out their voices. Jaxson says mama and it's the sweetest thing in the world. At first we thought he was just doing it with cries because sometimes when he would cry it would sound like maaaaa. But the last couple days he has said real maa maa's!!!!! He likes to lay in his swing and look up at the mirror and say maaaa maaa with a smile on his face : ] They both are also playing with their tongues a lot more and are really close to "raspberries". They try and move their lips together and in the process get drool everywhere!
We are enjoying every moment with our boys and can't wait to spend the holidays with them this year!!!
the boys being cute like always!!!

jaxson with a big smile and jaden with his silly smile... still so cute!!!

jaden was saying haha mom i'm on the move now : )

jaden, what are you doing under the table?

jaxson with his big smiles!!!! jaden was tired and being camera shy.

pumpkin babies!!!

Tuesday we decided to cut out pumpkins and put the boys in them for some pictures!!! They had so much fun and were so cute. It was a beautiful day out so they got to sit outside with us while we cleaned them out and enjoy some sunshine. They were all smiles in the pumkins and thought it was pretty silly. Towards the end they started to get wiggly and Jaden managed to tip himself over. It was a little scary when it happened but when i picked him up he was all smiles and wasn't sure what happened. haha : ]

Jaxson all smiles in his pumpkin
Jaden loved the leaves and was trying to reach for them

OUR CUTE LITTLE PUMPKIN BABIES!!!

Tuesday we also had another appointment at Elks Hearing and Balance because the boys have had fluid in their ears the last couple appointments. The fluid still hasn't resolved which is making their ear drums not move. They can hear but with fluid it doesn't make them hear clearly and over time it can effect their hearing. We got reffered to a ear nose and throat specialtist and will have to talk about options to resolve it. They are thinking tubes but we are hoping there will be something else we can try before tubes.
The boys are really figuring out their voices and are starting babble along with their constant cooing. Jaden is all about the "goo goo goo" and Jaxson is all about "maaa maa maa" : ] They are also starting to copy faces we do and it's pretty fun. The other day I was sticking my tongue out and they both would smile and try so hard to get their tongues out. We were laughing so hard at the faces they were making as they tried so hard to get those tongues out. After ahwile they managed to get them out. Good job boys!!!

6 month check up!!!

SWEET BROTHERS
Jaxson's new thing is to fall asleep with his toys

Jaden wore himself out then fell asleep

Tuesday the boys had their 6 month check up and their doctor was so surprised how big they are getting. Jaden weighed 16lbs 4oz and was 26in long!!! Jaxson weighed 12lbs 4oz and was 14 1/4in long!!! Jaxson still isn't on the growth curve but Jaden has caught up to a normal 6 month old. The doctor said we need to take Jaden off the Neosure since he seems to be growing so good. Jaxson will probable stay on Neosure until he is 1. Although Jaxson isn't on the growth chart he has made great progress with his weight gain and the doctor was so pleased to see him doing so well. The boys have had little colds but they gave them their shots still since neither of them were running fevers. I hate watching the shots but the boys did very good and calmed right down when we picked them up and were actually in good moods all day. You would have known they just got shots. The check up went good overall and we don't have to go back until they are 9 months old!
Tuesday night Jaxson gave us a good scare and we had to make our first trip to the ER....
Dad was holding him while I was making a bottle and when I took him to feed him he just started screaming and crying like never before. I tried giving him his bottle and he wouldn't take it and we both tried to rock him and he wouldn't stop crying. I decided to check his hernia and when we took off his diaper me and Trevor both went into shock. He had his hernia pushed out so far and it looked like it was starting to bruise which is not a good sign at all. I called the on call doctor right away and they said they would page the doctor and have them call me back. They weren't calling back and we couldn't get his hernia reduced so off to the ER we went. Of course it was the worst time to be in the ER (everyone with the flu) but we had to go. He calmed down on the way to the hospital which made his hernia go down a little but it was still out pretty far. The doctor was able to get it back in and said it was the right thing to bring him in. If his hernia gets out and won't get back in it can make him very sick very fast! Jaxson is scheduled to have surgery on November 10 to get it fixed but the ER doctor was going to email Dr.Curnow and see if he can get it fixed before then so this doesn't happen again. Now that Jaxson is bigger and moving around more he gets it pushed out a lot more and if he is straining in any way it just makes it get bigger. This was a horrible situation as a parent because I couldn't do anything to make him feel better. He looked like he was in so much pain. : [ poor little peanut...
This week the boys started the Infant Toddler Program. We met their service coordinator Wednesday and she is wonderful. She will see the boys once a month unless something comes up where they think they need more visits. Jaxson also has an Occupational Therapist through the Infant Toddler Program and we met her Wednesday also. She is going to help Jaxson with solid foods because he has texture issues. She wanted to see what he did with rice cereal and he gagged and spit it out. He doesn't like it at all!!! She suggested to start with sweet baby food and if he still refuses that to make the rice cereal with a bigger amount of formula so it doesn't have so much texture. If he refuse three days in a row then we have to stop and try again after the therapist works with him more. We are going to try sweet baby food tomorrow and hope he likes it!!
Each day the boys get stronger and is so much fun to watch them grow and meet milestones!!!

new adventures!!!

The boys have been doing GREAT and has experienced several new things this last month.
1st they have been trying solids. We started with bananas and avocado which both liked. Jaxson will taste but won't actually eat it, he keeps it in his mouth for a little while then spits it right back out. Jaden (being the chunky boy he is) eats anything we put in his mouth. We also tried rice cereal and Jaxson DID not like it. He was all smiles and so excited to try it but the second it went in his mouth he started to gag and was spitting it out. I mentioned this to his physical therapist and she thinks he has texture issues and will have an oral therapist when we transition to Infant Toddler Program. Jaden however loves his rice cereal and is now eating it everyday. The first time he was a little sloppy but now he has figured out the whole concept of getting it off the spoon and down with little mess. He gets very excited when it's time for cereal and now opens his mouth when put the spoon so he can see. We try and give Jaden a little taste of foods when we eat (mashed potatoes, ice cream, yogurt...) and so far he has taken everything and enjoys it. We stopped trying solids with Jaxson until he starts with his oral therapist because we don't want to irritate him and have a bad experience with solids where he refuses all the time.
We got the boys a jumperoo and an exersauser which they love!! The first time we put them in it they were overwhelmed and just looked around like "is this really mine". They get to bouncing and giggling and it's so fun to watch them! Jaxson's feet don't quit touch the ground but he still manages to get himself bouncing and plays with the toys around it.
Last weekend we took the boys on their very first camping trip!! The days leading up to it I got a little nervous since the weather took a turn but it ended up being pretty nice and only rained the very last night. They were very happy boys the whole weekend and enjoyed some outside time. My family and Trevor's family came and it was a great first camping trip for the boys!!!
The boys have now learned to move themselves wherever they want and are getting very good at. It is making a little nervous for when they start crawling and can really get anywhere they want. The other morning the boys were laying on the ground and Jaxson managed to scoot himself underneath the coffee table. I try and lay toys a few feet away for some motivation and they now can get it every time. We have also been working on sitting up and they are getting more stable and can sit up for several seconds. We are so proud of how far they have come these last couple weeks and starting to "baby proof" the house because they will be on the move before we know it.
Jaxson has had a Physical Therapist from St.Lukes home care coming to the house since he has been home from the NICU. He has done great and it is now time to transition to the Infant Toddler Program. Both the boys will get seen through this program and we are really looking forward to it. Jaxson will have an additional therapist for his feeding but they both will have the same social worker. They will start services next week and we are very happy about being in this program, it will be great for the boys!!!
The last thing the boys got for the first time is colds. : [ They have got runny noses on occasion but the last couple days we have had some sick babies!! Both have very runny noses, coughs, and Jaxson has a yucky eye. We have spent a lot time on the couch and there has been LOTS of cuddle time. The first day Jaden was worse and had a very hard time sleeping and just want to be held so he ended up sleeping with mom and dad all night. I think Jaxson caught on to Jaden's little trick of sleeping with mom and dad because last night he would only sleep if he was in our arms. The second we put him down it was screams and cries, so last night Jaxson slept with us. They had a little better today and are starting to clear up, we are hoping for them to stay in their beds all night and let us get some rest also. We were sad to see them sick but at the same we are happy they can fight off their colds and it didn't turn into anything serious!
It's hard to believe the boys are 6 months and headed towards their 1st birthday. We are such blessed parents to have two amazing babies. We are so proud of how far they've come and remind them everyday how strong they are and how proud we are of them. : ]

it's time for an update!!! : ]

So it has been awhile since we have updated our blog and today I told myself we will finally give everyone an update!! Here it is...
handsome boys in their new shirts (jaden's is 6-12months : 0)
GOOD MORNING happy boys

Jaxson attempting to hold his bottle

Dad and Jaden making mom nervous but they love to play crazy with dad!

So things have been going so great with the boys and they sure are growing up fast... Some new things the boys have been doing...
-Sleeping in their own room! They got moved into their own room about a month ago and have done great! They were getting too big for their play pin and we decided it was time for the transition. They have much more room and love it!
-Sleeping through the night! The boys have been sleeping through the night for about the last 3 weeks now. Mom and Dad love this. It is so nice to get some solid hours of sleep and feel somewhat normal again : ] They usually go to bed between 8-9 and sleep til 7-8. : ] On occasion they will wake up around 5 and need a diaper change and will eat as well but go right back to sleep. They are so funny in the morning because they don't cry when they wake up, the lay there and coo back and forth for about 20 minutes then they are over it and ready to get up! Since they aren't eating during the night they eat A LOT during the day, i feel like we are constantly feeding but it's all worth it to get that wonderful sleep we've missed so much. They also don't nap much since they are getting much more sleep at night. They will take one good nap in the late morning and then it's just little cat naps (15-30minutes) the rest of the day.
-Finding their voices! The boys are not only cooing all the time but they now babble and have an ear piercing squeal. The have little contest to see who can squeal louder and get mom and dad's attention. When we lay them next to each other on the floor they will have some pretty entertaining conversations, I would love to know what they are thinking as they are babbling back and forth with big grins on their faces.
-Using their hands! The boys love their hands, we got some thumb suckers for sure!!! Most the time now the will just spit their binkie out and go for the thumb. And they aren't quiet about it either, they really get to chomping and slobbering. They are also doing some productive things with their hands; picking up and playing with small toys, picking up binkies, stealing each others binkies and blankets, and holding hands : ] so sweet!!! they love to play on the ground and grab on each others clothes, hands, or anything in sight.
-Being Wiggle Worms! They have got some strong leg muscles and sure are using them now. They have learned to push up on their heels while they are laying on their backs and lift their butts up. They think it is very funny to do while we are getting them dressed or changing their diapers. If we just lay them down on a blanket they never stay in the same spot long. They love to scoot themselves in circles, we have to be sure to give them lots of space between them while on the ground otherwise they beat up on one another. Bath time is very challenging now that they are moving. They love the water and so they get very excited in the bath and get their legs kicking and bodies squirming. Another thing they have leaned to do is to use the blanket to pull themselves around during tummy time. They will grip onto the blanket, pull forward, and there they go. All this wiggling and moving is making me nervous for when they start crawling, how am i suppose to keep up with them and still get things done around the house? i guess we will figure it out. : ]
-Smiles & Giggles! We have got some of the happiest babies in town. They love to smile and have been giggling so much, it is so rewarding to hear your babies sweet little giggles. : ] Jaxson has actually been struggling with his bottles lately because he would rather just smile and giggle at you. It is so cute but I have to remind him he has eat too! He will do really good at the beginning then about half way through the smiles begin and it takes some time to get the rest down. The boys are giggling several times a day now and are very ticklish which makes it easy to get those giggles out. They smile anytime you talk to them, or even look at them. They are starting to smile for unfamiliar faces also. We are so blessed to have such fun and happy babies!
-Using those eyes! Just in the last couple weeks the boys are really starting to follow things with their eyes. The would do it on occasion but now anything crosses the path of their eyes they follow it. Jaxson is so cute about it... He will follow Trevor around in the morning with his eyes when he is getting ready for work then follows him out the door then just stares at it for a little bit like, where is my daddy going? Jaxson is big daddy's boy and Jaden is a momma's boy, although they both love us very much. : ] They are also focusing on their toys more and love to watch the tv, they have a favorite movie, Bolt. Whenever they are fussy or we need to get something done around the house we put that in and they are entertained!!
-Playing outside! We try to make it outside a couple times a week. They get so happy and excited when we do spend time out of the house. They are just so content and happy outdoors. Which is a very good thing!!!!
The days seem to be going by so fast... I can't believe the boys are almost 6 months old, really?
They are starting to change so fast and before we know it they will just want to run around and not snuggle with mom and dad. We try to get as much snuggles as possible because they are starting to think mom and dad are jungle gyms and like to try and crawl all over us when all we are trying to do is snuggle our little babies. Jaxson is still getting PT every other week but we are going to transition over to Infant Toddler Program this month and both boys will receive services. ITP is just an early intervention program that will watch the boys progress and provide services when needed. We are so proud how far they have come in last 5 months and are really looking forward to the next couple months when they hit some big milestones. : ]

BIG BOYS!!!

The boys had to go to an unexpected visit to the doctors Tuesday but we at least got to find out what they weigh. are you ready?? Jaden was 13 1/2lbs and Jaxson 10lbs 2oz. What big boys they are becoming! They are gaining weight so great and thriving. : ]

Jaxson had a yucky eye last week but I just thought it was a clogged tear duct since he gets them often and his eye wasn't pink or swollen... but Jaden got is Saturday night so I thought something might be up. I did the massage (for clogged tear ducts) all day Sunday and it didn't seem to get better so I called their doctor to get them in. We were suppose to go Monday but a different 3 hour doctors appointment made us miss it. Tuesday when they were seen the doctor said she wasn't sure if it was an infection or not. Neither of the boys had pink in their eyes and neither of them seemed in pain. But in the middle of the night when they would wake up to eat their eyes would be crusted together (so sad) which made her think it wasn't just a clogged tear duct. She ordered some ointment and said to continue to do the massage as well and so far so good!! Jaxsons eye is still a little watery during the day but neither of their eyes have crusted over since seeing the doctor!!! It gave me a little glimpse of the future... if one of them is sick they both will be sick!! At least the first time was just something minor. : ]

Monday we had an appointment with a surgeon, Dr.Curnow, about Jaxson's hernia. When he was about 1 month old he pushed it out and has never resolved on it's own. Dr.Curnow is a very busy guy and we waited 2 1/2 hours before even seeing him... We were a little frustrated seeing how it's a little hard to keep twin babies entertained that long, but what can we do? He was a very nice guy and surgery is planned for November 10th to repair it. He said he could do it now but with Jaxson being so little still there is more risks and chances of not as good of a repair. And he would most likely have a longer hospital recovery where as if we wait if could most likely just be an outpatient. He would like to see him around 12lbs so hopefully he gets there by November. Jaxson is still VERY grunty at times and gets his hernia scary big and we worried if he gets it repaired and is still as grunty he would push it out again. Dr.Curnow informed us he has done 2,400 hernia reapirs and only 3 have come back, and he hasn't had one in the last 17 years. That made us very pleased and feel very comfortable about him caring for our little Jaxson.

Besides the doctors appointments the boys are doing great!! They have longer awake periods and are so fun during those times. They are getting the cutiest personalities and are such happy babies! Monday night they finally started sleeping good again which has made it very nice for us! I think they just went through a little growing spurt last week and decided they needed to eat ALL the time. It is good they wanted to eat but we need some sleep too. : ]

on our way to the doctors! : ]

Every Sunday I take the boys to Mimi and Papas to hang out for the day. I usually don't head home until it's time for them to go to sleep but this Sunday I left early. Jaxson was sound asleep when we left and woke up in Greenleaf screaming and was starving. We still had a 45 minute drive so I had to stop at my sisters in Nampa to feed. What was intended to be just a feeding stop turned into a 3 hour stay. My nieces sure didn't mind it though. : ] They are so great with the boys and just adore them. Jaxson got his nighttime bottle and was really tired and fussy.... I handed him to Gabby and he fell right asleep, it was the sweetest thing in the world.

Mr.Giggles : ]

On our way to dinner for Great Grandma Dee's 81st birthday!!!

The boys have been so close to giggling and Jaden finally truly figured it out tonight! All Trevor's family was hanging out when he did it and I said it was Great Grandma's birthday present. : ]
Jaxson is right behind him and I bet starts giggling any day too. He has little short ones but the "real thing" will come before long!!!

JADEN.... looking so cute in his jeans
JAXSON... such a sweet sweet baby!

the boys boxing : ]

Jaden was very happy about his Einstein music. he did this for about 5 minutes!!!
The boys have really come a long way in this last week... they have found their voices (and using them quit often) and have really found out what their thumbs are. At first I thought it was cute when they would get their thumbs by their mouths and try and suck but now they won't keep them out!!! When i lay them down for bed and their binkies fall out i don't hear crying anymore i hear suck, suck, suck.... they found their thumbs. I try and tell them it's a no no but they just look at me like whatever mom.
They are both also doing SO GREAT with tummy time. Jaden wants to get on the move and gets his legs really kicking. He also gets his whole chest lifted off the ground now and is rolling over so much!! Jaxson is doing very well with his tummy time as well but doesn't enjoy it as much. He really likes to lay on the right side of his head and it is causing him to get a little flat spot. I try and give him as much tummy time as possible to avoid it getting any worse. I also do stretches and strengthening exercises to really work on his neck and getting it turn to the left more. He fusses most the time during the stretches but we really got to work on this!!!
Jaxson's physical therapist said that babies with reflux tend to turn their head to the right a lot more. For some reason it eases the pain they get when they reflex and so they find the right side being the most comfortable for them. I thought this was interesting! The physical therapist usually comes on Thursdays but this week she was feeling a little ill and didn't make it. I was a little disappointed because Jaxson struggled with his weight the week before and I was really looking forward to seeing how much he gained. I think he did well though because he has been eating EVERYTHING and then some.
Jaden is also eating very well still. I think they are both going through a growing spurt because they are waking up about every 3 hours to eat at night and they were doing so good about sleeping 5-6 hours at a time. This is making some long nights for us and low energy during the day but hopefully this is just a phase and they will start sleeping more soon!!!

4 MONTHS OLD... and 5 days!!

Wow it's hard to believe the boys turned 4 months old on the 8th....
Monday morning they had their 4 month check up and things went very well besides them getting shots. : ( It is the saddest thing to see your baby get stuck with needles and let out the most heartbreaking cry... They were pretty tough though and calmed right down once we picked them up. Jaden weighed 12lbs 4oz and Jaxson 8lbs 14oz. What big boys they are becoming! Jaxson has been doing so great with his breathing that his pediatrician decided to start taking him off some of his diuretics. He has been off one since Tuesday and has done just fine!! We will take away his other one Sunday and if he tolerates it well also he will only be on one medication (for his reflex)!!! The boys were pretty happy babies Monday for getting shots... they slept a lot but when they were awake they were smiley and cooing and in some of the best moods I've seen them yet, i said there had to be something in those shots we didn't know about. ; )
They are both still enjoying their bumbo very much and they watched cartoons for the first time in it on Tuesday. I turned on the Disney channel and Goofy was on and Jaden sat in that bumbo and didn't take his eyes off the tv. I'm sure he didn't really know what was going on but he loved the sounds and the picture changing on the tv. I told him he has a time limit on the tv though and he did very well just wanting his 10 minutes! His head was starting to get tired and he was ready for something new. The last couple days Jaxson has just loved his bouncer!! It is the aquarium one that has the bubbles that move and make noises and he thinks that is just the coolest thing!!! He makes the cutest little faces as he watches it and gets so excited.
Today Jaxson's physical therapist came and he was doing so great with his stretches and exercises! He's starting not be so stiff and relaxing a little more. He was holding his head up great and wanting to scoot all over the place when he was on his belly. He weighed 8lbs 14oz again today which means he didn't gain any weight from Monday. She wasn't too worried about it because the boys had colds last week and also got their shots which could of caused the no weight gain. We just have to make sure he is taking ALL his feeds and acts okay, which he is! She also told us to limit the boys to only 10 minutes of bumbo time a day and Jaxson maybe even less. It is great for babies once they can hold their heads up but if their backs and stomachs aren't strong it can cause them to slouch a little and a lot of pressure on the back which isn't good. She said the best way to strengthen their core and back muscles is to just put them on the ground and try and let them move around. Jaxson's physical therapist is wonderful and it's always nice to get advice from her every once in awhile... I would of never thought of it putting so much pressure on their backs, but now it makes sense. : ]
Well the boys are snoozing away and I should get some sleep myself! GOODNIGHT!

BUMBO!!!

So we bought the boys a bumbo last night and it was worth every penny.... THEY JUST LOVE IT!!! Jaden is sitting in it right now as I write and has a big smile on his face and just looking around. They think it is pretty cool to sit up. They both have been doing so great with holding their heads up and strengthening their muscles. When they have tummy time they will lift their heads and shoulders off the ground and just check everything out for about 30 seconds. They also love to lay on our chest while we are sitting up and lift their heads off.
The boys have been sleeping good which makes for GREAT MORNING MOODS!!! They are all smiles and love to tell stories when they wake up. I'm so lucky they have stuck to being on such a good schedule. Around 8-9 they know it's bedtime... I feed them and put them in bed and they fall asleep all by themselves now. They use to fuss and want to be held and put in bed with us but one night I decided I wouldn't pick them up and it has worked great!!! They will just lay there and "coo" to each other until they finally fall asleep.
Jaxson loving his bumbo... he was so cute the first time we put him in it.
Jaden so content in the bumbo just looking around sucking on his bink!
Last Wednesday we went and got family pictures done!!! The boys decided to wake up extra early that morning and smile all morning but not once for the pictures... isn't that how it always works out? They behaved pretty well though for the pictures seeing how they had been awake since 7am and pictures were at 10:45. And even though we didn't get smiles they were still cute as can be and I'm so happy with the way they turned out!!!

perfect picture!!!

never let go...

I was looking at some pictures and had to put this one on to share with everyone!! It is one of my favorite pictures and just brings tears to my eyes. It always amazed me how Jaden knew when his little brother was struggling and would comfort him and give him loves. This picture was taken right around when they thought Jaxson was aspirating into his lungs and thought he needed surgery. Jaden just watched him sleep and snuggled him knowing all along his little brother would be okay, once agagin. Jaden's love and protection towards his brother was something he had done since before they were born... At an ultrasound when I was about 25 weeks pregnant the boys were in a spooning position and Jaden has his arm around Jaxson and his hand placed on his shoulder. The ultrasound nurse started to tear up and said she had never seen anything like that. She said Jaden was telling Jaxson he would hold on to him and they'd make it through everything. AND THEY DID!!! I think the boys love for each other and the closeness is something very special they share and as a mom it is so amazing to watch them share it towards one another.

where is the time going??

WOW days sure are going by fast... I can't believe the boys are almost 4 months old. We had a great week and Jaxson hit some milestones!!! To start... Jaxson now can roll over too! He was very active last night and so funny to watch, he has got some very strong legs!! Dad was home and got to see him roll over for the first time which was very exciting. Jaxson loves to kick his little legs and try and move. Trevor would put his arm against his feet so he had something to push off of and he would move across the floor. I almost got tears in my eyes when our little Jaxson rolled over, he has come so far in these last four months and we couldn't be more proud of him. He also hit 8lbs!! His physical therapist came to the house today and things are still going great with him. He weighed 8lbs 1oz (up 8 oz from last week). He is still struggling with feeds a little so we got him a new Dr.Browns bottle and he has done great with it so far!! He takes his feeds much faster and isn't nearly as messy. I'm also using one on Jaden when he gets his bottle and it seems to help them not get as much air in their tummys and not be so grunty. Jaxson hasn't been on his oxygen at all for 4 days now!! Not for feeds, to sleep, or anything. He is doing so good and his breathing has just improved so much the last week. I keep his monitor off of him during the day now and he loves to be picked up and walked around, something he hasn't got to do since he's always been attached to something. He thinks it's just the coolest thing to get to move around and gets a big smile on his face. I still put his monitor on him while he sleeps at night but he stats high 90's-100 always! It is more of a comfort thing for me until I know for sure he doesn't need his oxygen anymore.
The boys are still on a pretty good schedule and it usually stays the same everyday. Jaxson loves to sleep and Jaden is starting to stay awake a little more. Sunday we went out to Mimi and Papas house and Jaden didn't take a nap all day. He did fall asleep on the way home though and didn't even budge when I put him into bed when we got home, then he slept for 6 hours! The boys still have their time of night where they think they are just absolutely starving!! It is a stressful hour but it makes it all worth it when they sleep for 4-6 hours afterwards.
Monday we took Jaxson to Elks Hearing and Balance since he failed his hearing test in the NICU also like Jaden. Jaxson can hear also!! His test took much longer since he was being a stinker. They have to be asleep to complete one of the tests and of course this is the one time Jaxson decides not to sleep... He sleeps constantly at home but we couldn't get him to fall asleep for anything!! Trevor held him and did a great job keeping him as calm as possible so they could get the test done. The lady that did it said Jaxson sure was making her work for her money that day... He may be little but he can have a feisty little attitude : ] Everything looked good and he responded great. They also did another test to see how his eardrums are moving and his right one had a flat response and she said it was because he had fluid behind his eardrum. I was a little confused how his ear drum couldn't be moving but he could still hear. She said she would fax the results over to his pediatrician and she would explain it to us better the next time we go in. The fluid should resolve on and its own and we have to hope it doesn't get infected anytime before that!! Since he has fluid in his hear so early he can be more prone to ear infections in the future. We were glad everything went great and will go back in 6 weeks to check the fluid again.
Tuesday we got out of the house for awhile and the boys enjoyed it very much. They slept most the time but were very well behaved the whole time. We went out to lunch and to Babies R Us then had to go back to the house for the boys feedings. Then we went clothes shopping since Jaden is getting so big and growing out of all his clothes! He only had a few pair of pj's that fit him and was in desperate need! He has grown out of all his newborn clothes and 0-3 months is snug. I picked him up and just stepped on the scale at home and it said he weighed 11.5 lbs! (and that was a week ago) He has got some chubby cheeks and rolls all over! I can't wait for his appointment next week to see how much he really weighs.
Last week was so hot the boys didn't get to go on many walks. We went a few times in the morning if things went well and the boys were in good moods. It was just still way too hot in the evenings. I was pretty bummed because nights seem to go so much more smoothly when they get to go on a walk and they seem to sleep better. The weather will be cooling down before we know it and I'll be saying it's too cold to go on walks....
They are such smiley babies and are so fun to be around. They both have done little giggles which were very cute but I'm sure in no time they will be giggling up a storm. They are also still loving to tell each other stories with their little squeals. Jaxson will do such a high pitch squeal sometimes it's pretty funny. Jaden will just look at him afterwards like how did you do that? It is so fun to just watch them now that they are very aware of each other and watch their facial expressions towards each other.
Overall we had a great week and happy the boys are growing big big big!!!!

roll boys roll...

Jaden has rolled over!!! What an exciting moment. Little Jaxson is so close but just hasn't figured out how to get over his shoulders yet. Thursday when Jaxson's physical therapist was here she showed me how to put the boys arms underneath them during tummy time and it gives them more support to hold their heads up. So that night when I put them down for tummy time Jaden rolled over just seconds after putting his arms underneath him. He is able to get his whole head up off the ground and when he gets to rocking over he goes!! The first time he did it I was shocked, I almost wasn't expecting it! Dad missed it but Jaden rolled over twice Friday night for both of us! Jaxson prefers to try and roll over from his back to his stomach where as Jaden goes from his stomach to his back (his tummy is too big to try and pull over his body : ] ) Jaxson is so close but just needs to figure out how to get over those little shoulders of his. He will get all his body over him and then just look around like what do I do now? For now I help him the rest of the way until he figures it out on his own which shouldn't be long. The boys are starting to find their voices and "cooing" a lot more. They like to have little conversations every once in awhile and it's pretty entertaining! When they first started doing it more I would just think they were fussy and always gave them their binkys (which they took because they never turn down their binkys), but now I just let them coo for awhile until they really do get fussy. Jaden is also learning how to get his binky back in his mouth all by himself. Last night he did it twice!! Jaxson will pick it up then just wave it around for a little bit. He will try to put it in his mouth but most the time he has it backwards and it doesn't work out so well... silly boy!! I can't wait for them to start getting giggles, they are so close. They will get these really big smiles and take a breath in like they want to giggle but aren't sure how to yet. I just can't get over how big they are getting and how they are learning so many new things! Each day they get more personality and find a new way to make us laugh!
Jaxson's physical therapist was here Thursday and he weighed 7lbs 5oz (up 3oz from Tues.) We got a new physical therapist that also works with babies that breastfeed and we like her a lot! She actually worked with the boys great grandpa Dale about 5 years ago. She is very pleased with the direction Jaxson is heading and thinks his strength is great! She was working with him on his tummy and he would just lift his head up and look around for about 2o seconds like it was no problem. His mouth is still tight and we continue to do oral exercises with him. He is still doing good off of his oxygen and just mainly needs it for feeds. When he breastfeeds he does well but with a bottle he doesn't have as much control over the flow and doesn't always breathe the best so he uses his oxygen every time for his bottles! There has been a few times where I have put it back on him just so he could relax. He doesn't really de-sat much but he will just breathe a lot faster and just seems to be working too hard but once he gets back on his oxygen he is just fine.
We are so proud of our little boys and love watching them grow and thrive to learn more everyday!! We are some very lucky parents...

the boys being cute as ever!!

Great Progress

The last couple days have been great!! Jaxson had an appointment with his pediatrician yesterday and she thought he was doing so well. Last week we turned him down to 1/16 liter and he tolerated it good and stated 100 all week. She was so pleased she said we can try him off his oxygen!! We were not expecting this to happen so soon. We turned him down to 1/32 yesterday evening and did fine throughout the night! This morning we took his oxygen off and he got the cutest face!! He was wide eyed and and wasn't sure what was going on. He did great all did without it, he will ding every once in awhile but it is just short and he comes right back up. I do however put his oxygen on during his feeds otherwise he dings quit a bit. It is only at 1/32 flow when he eats but it makes a huge difference. We want him to be focused on his eating and not his breathing. He only gained 5oz in a week which is okay but we would like to see him gaining a lot more!! He was struggling with his thickened feeds because it would get so thick he couldn't get any out so I tried not thickening them and took it great. His reflex hasn't been any worse with him not getting his thickened feeds so the doctor said as long as he is tolerating it then that's fine.
Both the boys failed their hearing screens in the NICU and got refereed to Elks Hearing and Balance Center. Jaden has his appointment Monday and he can hear!! He did great during all the long tests and he passed with no concerns at all. I knew he would do just fine because he will follow our voice now and get very alert when we read to him or talk. He also can hear music from his toys and gets very interested in it. Jaxson has his appointment in two weeks and I think he will do just fine as well.
I have started taking the boys on walks at night and they love it! I thought that they would fall asleep once we started going but they both stay awake the whole time and get little smiles. It doesn't matter how fussy they are before the walk they calm right down once we start going. They are both also getting into tummy time a lot more. Jaden gets his legs and arms moving pretty good and almost looks like he's going to roll over. Jaxson is more into just picking his head up than trying to move his whole body. If he stays there for awhile he will sometimes scoot around in circle.
They both are continuing to do great at home and we love them being here with us all the time!!

TWINS... amaze me!

Things are still going wonderful with both the boys home!! They are both starting to get a lot of personality which is great to see. One thing I've realized is they both like to be in the same moods!! If one is hungry, the other will "get" hungry, if one is crying the other will join in, and if one decides to keep mom up all night the other wants in on it too!! It amazes me how they can change moods so fast just to be the same as each other. Jaxson follows Jaden's lead most of the time and I believe he is just trying to be like his big brother.
The weekend has been great so far!! Friday we hung out in they boys room for the day and they enjoyed it! I figured we spent the money for them to have a cute room they might as well spend some time in there. Mimi came and visited the boys yesterday before she left on the big camping trip. Both the boys were wide awake the whole time and loving the attention. Last night Dad got off work early so we watched a movie and let the boys just stay in the living room with us... BIG MISTAKE!!! I usually always move the boys into the bedroom after their 9:00 feeding and have story time and get them ready for bed and they sleep great through the night! Last night however... they didn't get moved into the bedroom until after midnight and they were not ready to go back to sleep. They were wide eyed and ready to play. I tried feeding them to get them sleepy again but they weren't having it. And of course they wouldn't just lay in their bed and be awake they had to be in bed with mom and dad. I left them in their bed at the beginning and Jaden started to cry a little so Jaxson joined in, then one would get a little louder so the other had to, they got each other so worked up all I could do is smile. what a crazy journey it is having twins!! They finally won me over and they got to stay in bed with us for awhile (turned into a few hours). They ate around 4:00 and finally went to sleep afterwards!! I was very exhausted this morning but as soon as they gave me their "good morning mommy" smiles my day was instantly better. It has been a lazy day so far since mom is very sleepy as are the boys! They did however have a good awake period this morning and enjoyed some tummy time. They are both getting stronger and doing much better.
Grandma Linda is starting to feed Jaxson some bottles so mom and dad can maybe get out and do something soon. He is doing great with his feedings and learning how to pace himself better. The only time his monitor beeps is at the very beginning when he gets going too fast and we just have to take the bottle out for a minute so he will catch his breath and slow down. Jaden of course has no problems with his bottles and takes them like he's never eaten before! Grandma Linda does great with the boys and I believe they will do just fine if mom and dad get away for a night!
I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend and we will update again soon!!!

The boys were not ready for bed!! Thankfully this night they at least stayed in bed and eventually fell asleep!! They are pretty funny laying feet to feet cuz they love to kick each other and make sure the other is still there.

Every morning I lay them next to each other and they love to snuggle up and give morning loves!!

The boys getting loves from their Mimi!
Jaden had his big bug eyes checking her out and Jaxson wanted to touch her face. CUTE!
"Guess what Mom"
Jaxson loves to tell stories!
Jaden is a chuncky monkey now!
