time to baby proof the house!!! they're on the move....

Yes you read that right.... THE BOYS ARE ON THE MOVE. Mr. Jaden has officially learned how to roll over both ways and move himself wherever he would like, his favorite though is underneath the coffee table. The last couple weeks he learned how to scoot himself around but now that he has mastered rolling from his back to his stomach then stomach to back he is a little rolling baby all over the house!! Little Jaxson has got so good at throwing his legs up and scooting himself around (most the time trying to chase after brother). He is trying so hard to roll from his back to his stomach and will get it soon! He gets his legs thrown up and manage to get on his side but hasn't figured out to get his head and shoulders over. Once he gets as mobile as Jaden I'm going to be one busy momma chasing them around.
It is so exciting to see them reaching big milestones and doing so great! At the same time it makes me a little sad though. How does time go by so fast? What happened to the days of being able to snuggle them for hours on end without squirms, being able to change their diapers while they lay so calmly and not try and roll away, give them baths without them giving me one as well as they splash their arms and legs around, and being able to lay them down wherever they wanted and not have to worry about them rolling off. They are growing up so fast and it makes me grateful for everyday!!!
Jaden has still been doing great on eating and is eating more solids everyday. His favorite so far is sweet potatoes and gets so excited over them! If I don't keep them coming in his mouth fast enough he throws a little fit and grabs the spoon and sweet potatoes go everywhere. Mr. Attitude for sure when it comes to his food!!! He hasn't been too excited over his rice cereal lately but I think it's because he is enjoying the fruits and veggies much more, which is totally okay!
We are continuing to work with Jaxson on his feeds but he is taking his bottles great and that's what he needs right now to get all the nutrients he needs to grow so we aren't pushing the solids. He did however take a few bites of sweet potatoes the last couple nights without gagging!! YAY! He really enjoys the taste but his mouth is still very tight which doesn't allow him to move the food around very easily. It's kind of funny to watch him concentrate so hard on moving the food to the back of his mouth and swallow. He makes the funniest motions with his tongue and usually loses about half of what was on the spoon to his shirt. We are so happy he is at least letting sweet potatoes in his mouth without gagging and is enjoying the taste. We just need to keep working on oral therapy to loosen his mouth so it makes it easier for him to eat.
Each day the boys are babbling new sounds and really figuring out their voices. Jaxson says mama and it's the sweetest thing in the world. At first we thought he was just doing it with cries because sometimes when he would cry it would sound like maaaaa. But the last couple days he has said real maa maa's!!!!! He likes to lay in his swing and look up at the mirror and say maaaa maaa with a smile on his face : ] They both are also playing with their tongues a lot more and are really close to "raspberries". They try and move their lips together and in the process get drool everywhere!
We are enjoying every moment with our boys and can't wait to spend the holidays with them this year!!!
the boys being cute like always!!!

jaxson with a big smile and jaden with his silly smile... still so cute!!!

jaden was saying haha mom i'm on the move now : )

pumpkin babies!!!

Tuesday we decided to cut out pumpkins and put the boys in them for some pictures!!! They had so much fun and were so cute. It was a beautiful day out so they got to sit outside with us while we cleaned them out and enjoy some sunshine. They were all smiles in the pumkins and thought it was pretty silly. Towards the end they started to get wiggly and Jaden managed to tip himself over. It was a little scary when it happened but when i picked him up he was all smiles and wasn't sure what happened. haha : ]

Jaxson all smiles in his pumpkin
Jaden loved the leaves and was trying to reach for them

OUR CUTE LITTLE PUMPKIN BABIES!!!

Tuesday we also had another appointment at Elks Hearing and Balance because the boys have had fluid in their ears the last couple appointments. The fluid still hasn't resolved which is making their ear drums not move. They can hear but with fluid it doesn't make them hear clearly and over time it can effect their hearing. We got reffered to a ear nose and throat specialtist and will have to talk about options to resolve it. They are thinking tubes but we are hoping there will be something else we can try before tubes.
The boys are really figuring out their voices and are starting babble along with their constant cooing. Jaden is all about the "goo goo goo" and Jaxson is all about "maaa maa maa" : ] They are also starting to copy faces we do and it's pretty fun. The other day I was sticking my tongue out and they both would smile and try so hard to get their tongues out. We were laughing so hard at the faces they were making as they tried so hard to get those tongues out. After ahwile they managed to get them out. Good job boys!!!

6 month check up!!!

SWEET BROTHERS
Jaxson's new thing is to fall asleep with his toys

Jaden wore himself out then fell asleep

Tuesday the boys had their 6 month check up and their doctor was so surprised how big they are getting. Jaden weighed 16lbs 4oz and was 26in long!!! Jaxson weighed 12lbs 4oz and was 14 1/4in long!!! Jaxson still isn't on the growth curve but Jaden has caught up to a normal 6 month old. The doctor said we need to take Jaden off the Neosure since he seems to be growing so good. Jaxson will probable stay on Neosure until he is 1. Although Jaxson isn't on the growth chart he has made great progress with his weight gain and the doctor was so pleased to see him doing so well. The boys have had little colds but they gave them their shots still since neither of them were running fevers. I hate watching the shots but the boys did very good and calmed right down when we picked them up and were actually in good moods all day. You would have known they just got shots. The check up went good overall and we don't have to go back until they are 9 months old!
Tuesday night Jaxson gave us a good scare and we had to make our first trip to the ER....
Dad was holding him while I was making a bottle and when I took him to feed him he just started screaming and crying like never before. I tried giving him his bottle and he wouldn't take it and we both tried to rock him and he wouldn't stop crying. I decided to check his hernia and when we took off his diaper me and Trevor both went into shock. He had his hernia pushed out so far and it looked like it was starting to bruise which is not a good sign at all. I called the on call doctor right away and they said they would page the doctor and have them call me back. They weren't calling back and we couldn't get his hernia reduced so off to the ER we went. Of course it was the worst time to be in the ER (everyone with the flu) but we had to go. He calmed down on the way to the hospital which made his hernia go down a little but it was still out pretty far. The doctor was able to get it back in and said it was the right thing to bring him in. If his hernia gets out and won't get back in it can make him very sick very fast! Jaxson is scheduled to have surgery on November 10 to get it fixed but the ER doctor was going to email Dr.Curnow and see if he can get it fixed before then so this doesn't happen again. Now that Jaxson is bigger and moving around more he gets it pushed out a lot more and if he is straining in any way it just makes it get bigger. This was a horrible situation as a parent because I couldn't do anything to make him feel better. He looked like he was in so much pain. : [ poor little peanut...
This week the boys started the Infant Toddler Program. We met their service coordinator Wednesday and she is wonderful. She will see the boys once a month unless something comes up where they think they need more visits. Jaxson also has an Occupational Therapist through the Infant Toddler Program and we met her Wednesday also. She is going to help Jaxson with solid foods because he has texture issues. She wanted to see what he did with rice cereal and he gagged and spit it out. He doesn't like it at all!!! She suggested to start with sweet baby food and if he still refuses that to make the rice cereal with a bigger amount of formula so it doesn't have so much texture. If he refuse three days in a row then we have to stop and try again after the therapist works with him more. We are going to try sweet baby food tomorrow and hope he likes it!!
Each day the boys get stronger and is so much fun to watch them grow and meet milestones!!!

new adventures!!!

The boys have been doing GREAT and has experienced several new things this last month.
1st they have been trying solids. We started with bananas and avocado which both liked. Jaxson will taste but won't actually eat it, he keeps it in his mouth for a little while then spits it right back out. Jaden (being the chunky boy he is) eats anything we put in his mouth. We also tried rice cereal and Jaxson DID not like it. He was all smiles and so excited to try it but the second it went in his mouth he started to gag and was spitting it out. I mentioned this to his physical therapist and she thinks he has texture issues and will have an oral therapist when we transition to Infant Toddler Program. Jaden however loves his rice cereal and is now eating it everyday. The first time he was a little sloppy but now he has figured out the whole concept of getting it off the spoon and down with little mess. He gets very excited when it's time for cereal and now opens his mouth when put the spoon so he can see. We try and give Jaden a little taste of foods when we eat (mashed potatoes, ice cream, yogurt...) and so far he has taken everything and enjoys it. We stopped trying solids with Jaxson until he starts with his oral therapist because we don't want to irritate him and have a bad experience with solids where he refuses all the time.
We got the boys a jumperoo and an exersauser which they love!! The first time we put them in it they were overwhelmed and just looked around like "is this really mine". They get to bouncing and giggling and it's so fun to watch them! Jaxson's feet don't quit touch the ground but he still manages to get himself bouncing and plays with the toys around it.
Last weekend we took the boys on their very first camping trip!! The days leading up to it I got a little nervous since the weather took a turn but it ended up being pretty nice and only rained the very last night. They were very happy boys the whole weekend and enjoyed some outside time. My family and Trevor's family came and it was a great first camping trip for the boys!!!
The boys have now learned to move themselves wherever they want and are getting very good at. It is making a little nervous for when they start crawling and can really get anywhere they want. The other morning the boys were laying on the ground and Jaxson managed to scoot himself underneath the coffee table. I try and lay toys a few feet away for some motivation and they now can get it every time. We have also been working on sitting up and they are getting more stable and can sit up for several seconds. We are so proud of how far they have come these last couple weeks and starting to "baby proof" the house because they will be on the move before we know it.
Jaxson has had a Physical Therapist from St.Lukes home care coming to the house since he has been home from the NICU. He has done great and it is now time to transition to the Infant Toddler Program. Both the boys will get seen through this program and we are really looking forward to it. Jaxson will have an additional therapist for his feeding but they both will have the same social worker. They will start services next week and we are very happy about being in this program, it will be great for the boys!!!
The last thing the boys got for the first time is colds. : [ They have got runny noses on occasion but the last couple days we have had some sick babies!! Both have very runny noses, coughs, and Jaxson has a yucky eye. We have spent a lot time on the couch and there has been LOTS of cuddle time. The first day Jaden was worse and had a very hard time sleeping and just want to be held so he ended up sleeping with mom and dad all night. I think Jaxson caught on to Jaden's little trick of sleeping with mom and dad because last night he would only sleep if he was in our arms. The second we put him down it was screams and cries, so last night Jaxson slept with us. They had a little better today and are starting to clear up, we are hoping for them to stay in their beds all night and let us get some rest also. We were sad to see them sick but at the same we are happy they can fight off their colds and it didn't turn into anything serious!
It's hard to believe the boys are 6 months and headed towards their 1st birthday. We are such blessed parents to have two amazing babies. We are so proud of how far they've come and remind them everyday how strong they are and how proud we are of them. : ]
